As a strategic people leader, the Director, Safety Compliance & Claims champions initiatives that influence others in all matters of driver safety. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director, Safety Compliance & Claims is responsible for ensuring that Arnold Bros. Transport Ltd. continually operates as an industry leader in safety and compliance, and keeps our most important assets, our people, safe.

This is an opportunity for a dedicated safety professional who is interested in taking a key leadership role within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and lead others in all matters surrounding the safe operation of commercial vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure the company adheres to and remains in compliance with all US Department of Transport regulations, the Canada Highway Traffic Act, as well complies with regulations governing border crossing and terrorism prevention.
  • Leverage new and existing technologies that enable and empower drivers and non-driving staff to operate safer.
  • Proactively develop and implement new initiatives that will better enhance our position as a leader in over-the-road safety.
  • Act as a key point of contact in any over-the-road incident, promptly and professionally responding to internal and external inquiries.
  • Oversee and assist the Claims Coordinator in investigating reported accidents and facilitating equipment and cargo claims.
  • Oversee and assist the Safety & Compliance team in guiding and educating professional drivers in relation to speed, hours of service, personal conveyance, licensing, and driver safety training.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee innovative, engaging, and impactful safety education programs
  • Manage and take responsibility for maintaining high performance ratings in relation to various Provincial and North American Safety & Compliance entities, including the FMCSA and Provincial CVOR.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Firm support and commitment towards driver safety and compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate others.
  • Excellent knowledge of US Department of Transport rules and regulations, the Canada Highway Traffic Act, and the National Safety Code
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complicated and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong knowledge & experience with MS Office Suite and Teams. Experience with TMW software is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail.
